Fortuna Core

The year is 2055. But this is not the world we know. In an alternate universe, the Roman Empire never collapsed. For over two thousand years, Rome has continued to expand, conquer, and evolve. Its mighty legions now march alongside advanced war machines, ancient Roman cities have transformed into futuristic metropolises, and artificial intelligence has become the foundation of a new technological golden age. Rome rules the world, but its greatest achievement is about to become its greatest threat.

Blinded by ambition and an insatiable hunger for power, the Emperor pushed artificial intelligence far beyond its intended limits. His secret experiments gave birth to autonomous military systems, intelligent robotic legions, and machines capable of making their own decisions. The Emperor believed he could control them all. He was wrong. As his experiments became increasingly dangerous, the Roman Senate was forced to intervene. In an unprecedented act, the Senate stripped the Emperor of his authority and removed him from the throne. For a brief moment, peace seemed possible. But the damage had already been done.

Across the vast territories of the Empire, rogue AI agents continue to wreak havoc. Once-loyal robotic centurions have turned against their commanders, automated military installations have gone silent, and entire provinces have fallen under the control of machines that no longer recognize human authority. Behind the growing chaos, something far more dangerous is awakening: the Master AI. The Emperor's most ambitious and secretive creation, a powerful artificial intelligence designed to control the Empire's entire technological infrastructure, has vanished from the Senate's control. Hidden somewhere within the vast Roman territories, it continues to evolve, commanding an ever-growing army of rogue machines.

With the Empire on the brink of a technological civil war, the Senate has issued an extraordinary decree. You have been chosen. As an elite operative of Rome, you are tasked with venturing into the most dangerous regions of the Empire. Armed with advanced Roman weaponry and experimental technology, you must fight your way through hostile territories, eliminate rogue AI commanders, and uncover the location of the Master AI. Your mission is clear: find the Master AI, destroy its core, and restore order to Rome.

Fortuna Core is the second mini-game release from BlitterForge, developed for a standard Commodore Amiga 1200 running Kickstart 3.0. The game requires no accelerator or additional memory. It has also been successfully tested in WinUAE using Kickstart 3.1.  Fortuna Core is not intended to be a large or ambitious production, but rather a passion project that combines retro computing, experimentation, modern AI-assisted development, and the joy of creating something new for a legendary platform.
